Apple Watch Series 6 comes in a rectangular shape with rounded corners, and Apple has not changed this design since its maiden launch. It is available in three different material options: Aluminium, Titanium, Stainless steel. 

Apple Watch is available in two different sizes: 40mm and 44mm. The design gives a premium experience to users and has become a trademark for Apple now. Apple Watch varies in weight depending on the model you select.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 comes with a classic look with a round dial. Like Apple, Samsung has also launched the watch in two different size variants, 42 and 46 mm. The Galaxy Watch 4 comes with stainless steel bezels which contribute to its premium looks. Galaxy Watch 4 provides a flat and classic look to the user’s hand. The Galaxy watch weighs around 47g for the 42mm model and 52g for the 46mm model.

Operating System and Display

The new Galaxy Watch 4 comes with Wear OS, the first for the Galaxy Watch series. Samsung has applied One UI on top of Wear OS, so the Samsung fanbase will have the One UI look on their watch. With the implementation of Wear OS, Samsung Galaxy Watch will have Google Play services integration. 

The display on the Galaxy watch measures 1.2 inches for the 42mm model and 1.4 inches for the 46mm model. Samsung has used an AMOLED display with 396×396 and 450×450 resolution on the 42mm and 46mm models, respectively.

The Apple Watch Series 6 comes with Watch OS 7, which is upgradeable to Watch OS 7.6. Apple uses a 324×394 and 368×448 resolution display for 40mm and 44mm models, respectively. Apple uses LTPO OLED technology for its display with a brightness of 1000 nits. So, Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 has a better display when it comes to resolution.

Health-related features

Apple is known for many innovations in health-related features for smartwatches. They introduced ECG and Blood Oxygen level saturation in their last two editions of smartwatches. Apple has always been the best in the industry for health-related applications because of these features. But, apart from these, Apple has not made any significant improvements in this section for a while. But, Samsung has changed the entire picture for them.

With the launch of the Galaxy Watch 4, Samsung has changed the health tracking system on the Galaxy Watch. Samsung has introduced a new sensor called BioActive sensor, which can cover your entire body for providing you with overall fitness of your body. 

This sensor will track your body water, body fat, and skeletal muscle for your overall health. Apart from this, Samsung has blood oxygen and blood pressure feature from the last generation of their smartwatches.

Battery, Price, and other features

As we all know, Apple does not reveal the exact battery measurements. Instead, they provide the battery life of the device to users. Apple claims a total of 18-hour battery life on the Apple Watch Series 6, which is not enough for daily usage and has to be charged again and again. 

The Battery on Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 depends on the variant you selected. The 42mm model has a 247 mAh battery, while the 46mm model has a 361 mAh battery. Samsung has made a claim of 40 hours battery life on the new Galaxy Watch 4. So, in the battery section, Samsung has a lead.

Apple has always been on the pricey side when it comes to price, and the story remains the same here. So, if you want to save some bucks, Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is the right option for you. Other features like connectivity support are the same on both devices. 

Both come with Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi, LTE, and GPS. Both Galaxy Watch 4 and Apple Watch Series 6 are water-resistant up to 50 meters. Storage and RAM support on these watches, Apple Watch, comes with 1 GB RAM and 32 GB storage while Samsung provides 1.5 GB RAM and 16 GB of storage.


Samsung leads in most of the categories, and with the new Wear OS integration, it is improved on a greater scale. However, the Apple Watch Series 6 is a smartwatch from last year, and Apple has not revealed the watch for this year yet. Currently, Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 comes out on top, but things can change with the release of the Apple Watch Series 7. However, we have to wait for the launch of the Apple Watch Series 7 to compare it with Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.
